I used to work with birds like this in raptor rehabilitation. While there were some permanently disabled birds that came through for one reason or another, many were able to be released back into the wild. My guess is that this guy here will get his chance

As any dog owner can attest, injuries to canine legs are some of the most common and painful afflictions to befall our four-legged friends. Although dogs usually manage to adapt to their new situation, some dog owners often decide to put an injured dog to sleep rather than subject him to a life of perceived misery. That wasn’t acceptable to Israeli industrial design student Nir Shalom, who has designed a concept called Amigo, a lightweight, durable walking aid for dogs who have lost the use of their hind legs.

This is Red. He was shot when trying to protect his elderly owner from being attacked during an armed robbery in his high rise apartment, resulting in Red becoming partially paralyzed. He was at PAWS Chicago for over two years and was just adopted into a foster home. I’m lucky that I got to meet and work with him!
